Daily Prayer for the Lord's Day, September 1, 2024: Philippians 1:12-14
Prayer: We praise your name, our most merciful and faithful Father, because it pleased you to crush your only beloved Son for our sake. He gladly came to this sin-wrecked world to save sin-wrecked people. He came that he might rescue us from our miserable condition and give us hope for tomorrow. It was his joy to go to the cruel cross of suffering and shame to advance your glory and the hope of…

Church notes - 18th August 2024
18th Psalm 91:14 - 16
1 Peter 4:12 - 19 Hard Sell Trials and Persecution 1 Peter 1:1, 2
If you don't suffer grief, then you have died before those who love and care for you.
If you don't factor suffering into your world view you are ill prepared to live in this world. Christians will suffer and your shouldn't be surprised when it happens. Any teachings to the contrary are false.
vs 13
Philippians 1:29
The people who are persecuting you see something of Jesus in you. vs 14
Matthew 5:3 - 12
We recieve the ministry of the Holy Spirit when we are suffering.
vs 15 - 18
vs 19 Commit to God.
If you don't factor in eternity you are ill prepared for suffering.

The Life of Faith Is Not a Solo Sport
27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. 29 For it…

The Priorities of the Gospel and Unity
Philippians 1.12-30 Two priorities for Paul are clear: proclaiming the gospel and unity of the body. The first might be done out of mixed motives, but the second requires oneness of spirit and mind…an attitude of togetherness. As individuals, sharing the gospel…telling our story, investing our mina…should be a motivating, a driving factor in our lives. We weren’t saved to go to heaven…we were…

How Can the World Change? (Philippians 1:21-30)
Tears and celebration mix in a sacred alchemy producing a kind of care which transcends description.
For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me, yet I cannot say which I will choose. I am hard pressed between the two: my desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better, but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you. Since I am convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your…

“Living with Uncertainty” By Bible Love Notes:
“Uncertainty is a powerful emotion, causing frustration, discouragement, and confusion.
Covid was a perfect example, affecting employment, education, finances, relationships, and travel. But many other things in life bring with them just as many uncertainties.
God understands and encourages us:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
Pray about everything...everything!
Pray with thanksgiving.
Expect peace that isn’t based on understanding.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27
As we walk into our future, let’s remember the words God said to Joshua when he entered the many unknowns of the promised land:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” —Joshua 1:9

The Morning Devotional: WCF 32.1-2
The Morning Devotional for October 12, 2023 The Westminster Confession of Faith 32.1-2 I. The bodies of men, after death, return to dust, and see corruption;a but their souls (which neither die nor sleep), having an immortal subsistence,b immediately return to God who gave them. The souls of the righteous, being then made perfect in holiness, are received into the highest heavens, where they…

28th 1 Peter 2:13 - 25 Faithfulness in the face of persecution. vs 13 - 17 Human authority is under God's authority. Honor human authority. Fear God.
vs 15 Do good in God's behalf.
Who grind's on you? Do good to them. Show them God's light.
Galatians 2:20.
God's calling to you is to suffer. You will have troubles in this world.
Acts 14:22 1 Thessalonians 3:3 Philippians 1:29
Not mindless pain. It is suffering for the sake of Christ.
Psalm 23 The rod and staff comforting is what we should be focused on, not the valley of the shadow of death.
vs 20
It is for His Name's sake.
By nature we are self centred, but by focusing on God we can stand the world's waves.
God's example to you is Jesus.
The suffering servant. Matthew 16:13 -20
He committed no sin. He was authentic, forgiving, even on the Cross. He entrusted himself to Him who judges justly.

A Matter of Life or Death
18 Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, 20 as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to…
